WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - The Young County Sheriff’s Office, working with the Graham Fire Department, was able to recover a gun safe reported stolen in January. Officials say one person has been arrested as a result of the investigation.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Newcastle on January 14 and again twelve days later on reports of separate burglaries.
The sheriff’s office says in a Facebook post that two shotguns were taken in the first burglary, and a gun safe, firearms and television were taken in the second.
Sheriff Travis Babcock says investigators spoke with cooperating witnesses and found someone trying to sell the stolen guns.
Babcock says the person confessed to both burglaries, and the sheriff’s office was able to recover all of the firearms and the television.
On February 12, they got information about the location of the stolen gun safe.
It was recovered with the assistance of the Graham Fire Department in Lake Graham.
The unnamed suspect has been arrested for two counts of Burglary of a Habitation, a second degree felony.
If convicted, the suspect faces a sentence ranging from two to 20 years.
