WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - About 150 athletes filled the practice fields of Midwestern State University on Wednesday morning for ‘The Battle of the Day Habs’ in Wichita Falls.
The nonprofit, Arc of Wichita County partnered with MSU Texas and Special Olympics to bring a fun and friendly event to Wichita Falls so people with disabilities from around the area can get together and compete in different sports.
“There are a few times out of the year where they get to hang out with their friends that aren’t in their specific day hab, so our summer camp and events like this [gives them] time to see friends that they haven’t seen in a long time, hanging out and catch up,” said Mallory LeDoux, an intern for the Arc of Wichita Co.
Members of four different day habs were at MSU Texas playing soccer, basketball, football, and bocce. Each day hab team gave it their very best because the winner would get a big trophy.
Officials with Arc of Wichita County said events like this are not possible without the help of the community. If you want to help, click here.
