WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - National nutrition month is coming to an end but before it does, the nutrition services team with the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank shared a list of healthy and affordable foods with one group.
Members of the community met at Walmart on Greenbriar Rd. Friday morning for a one-hour long educational tour led by the nutrition services team.
The team showed the group how to analyze labels and pick foods that are nutritious, delicious, and affordable.
Officials said the event was free to the public all in hopes to help people make the most of their time and resources to get the best nutrition possible.
"I think it's important to provide awareness for nutrition education which is what we do at the food bank," said Angie Weiss, the nutrition services director.
"We are going to discuss cans, frozen foods, and fresh food and seeing which one is more budget-friendly but all are nutritious."
This was the second tour the nutrition services team had offered this month.
While this event was only put on for national nutrition month, organizers said they are willing to do it again if more members of the community are interested.
