An old tradition makes a comeback in WF

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Wichitans can welcome back an old tradition with a new boot and shoe care center in downtown.

“I always cared about how my shoes look. Back in the day, we use to take our shoes and put them behind our leg and rub them up a little bit to make sure they are good and shiny,” said Tyrone Earl Kimble.

It was his passion for shoes and a lack of shoe care providers in Wichita Falls that made Kimble open Wichita Boot and Shoe Care Center. The small shop is located inside the City National building.

While these guys get your shoe game right they will also tell you why it matters.

“If you got a $500 suit on and your shoes are not shined the suit might as well cost $50. The shoes enhance the rest of the look,” Kimble said.

Kimble says opening this business felt necessary.

“ I love people, and most of all this is something that’s been needed in Wichita Falls. Taking care of shoes can enhance the shoe. If you take care of a pair of shoes they can last five years longer,” he said.

Kimble, who first started shining shoes as a young kid says to modernize his business he had to switch up his cleaning product.

" It’s not your old petroleum that they use to use back in the day. We use a product made from plants, so it doesn’t crack and dry the leather out," he said.

The business offers delivery and pickup services, customization of shoe care treatments and 48-72 hour turn around times.

Kimble hopes to provide even more than that.

“You can experience something that most people will never experience again,” he said.

He said that while they have only been open for two months, the company already thinking about a second location.
