WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Charlie Roberts, also known as Cha Sue in the Wichita Falls art scene, is the artistic director for the Angry Girls Art Exhibition at 9th Street Studios.
“I’ve gotten into the local art scene just in the past couple of years. But I’ve been doing art ever since I can remember,” Roberts said.
Roberts created the Angry Girls Art Collective Facecbook group around three years ago following what she called a rough time in her life.
It was meant be a support group of artists that were able to openly share things they were going through as well as their creations.
The group has grown to nearly 200 members at the time this story was published.
“The whole purpose of creating it [the group] was [to show] that art is a healthy way you can express any of your emotions,” Roberts said.
Some of those artists will showcase their work, some for the first time, at the first After Hours Artwalk of the season on Thursday evening.
The Angry Girls Art Exhibition will have poetry, spoken word, live musical performances, oil paintings, photography, and more from Angry Girl artists.
It’s a dream Roberts and her fellow Angry Girls have seen come to life at 9th Street Studios in downtown Wichita Falls.
“Hanging all the art and seeing it in a physical space just feels absolutely amazing. It’s been a lot of hard work but it is definitely worth it, every bit of it,” she said.
The Angry Girls Art Exhibition is ready for your viewing pleasure at 9th Street Studios located at 920 9th Street.
The After Hours Artwalk is taking place on Thursday, April 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m in downtown Wichita Falls.
