WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Hundreds came out to get a taste of what FC Wichita Falls home games will be like this year.
The season preview offered fans an interactive and entertaining experience. Fans were not only able to cheer for FC players but for local community members as well in exhibition games.
Many could feel the excitement at the MPEC the moment the gates where opened. With players from throughout the community ready to take the field.
Organizations showing support by playing included KAUZ, KFDX, Wichita Falls fire department and police department. The team is the first pro soccer team in Wichita Falls.
“It’s phenomenal to see them get the experience of what we are doing. The size of the field whether they think it is a big field or a short field the size of the goals, How fast pace it is. They have experienced it for themselves on the field, and hopefully, they come back and see us and say ‘wow we did that,’” said Robert Swann, FC player.
Both coaches said Saturday was a long time coming.
“We feel like we have been working towards today for months now. It nice to finally get out here," said Brandon Swartzendruber, head coach.
"We have been talking about this for months we been talking to players tryouts social media an now we are here, "said Marcelo Campolino, assistant coach.
MPEC manager Micheal Tipton says soccer is all new territory for the MPEC, but after seeing Saturday’s crowd, he is feeling good about it.
“This was a little taste of what to come, and I thinks it’s exciting.”
The team will start practicing officially April 13, and the season opener is May 4.
