WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Wichita Falls’ record high temperature for April 10th, 96 degrees, has stood for 85 years dating back to 1934. We expect temperatures to soar this afternoon within two or three degrees of that record high. That’s a long way of saying its going to be hot today.
It’s also going to be windy. Strong southwest winds, combined with the summer heat bring serious wildfire conditions this afternoon. If a fire were to get started, it would burn out of control quickly. A cold front will come through late tonight and temperatures will tumble. Highs will be in the 60s both Thursday and Friday. In fact, Friday will begin with temperatures in the upper 30s.
Saturday’s forecast is not looking great for outdoor plans with a fair chance of rain and temperatures hovering around the 50 degree mark.
