WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - The fourth flight between Wichita Falls and Dallas-Fort Worth is now available at the Wichita Falls Regional Airport.
“We started looking at the capacity of the flights and it started increasing so we wanted to get our fourth flight back that we had before,” said the Airport Administrator, Jon Waltjen.
The flight was removed about three years ago because of the lack of passengers.
Waltjen said the new flight was announced in January but didn’t take off for its first flight until April.
“The addition of this flight also increases our enplanement that the FAA looks at to give us grant money to do projects so it is a plus for us,” said Waltjen.
Eric Luster with Southern Girl Cafe and Catering said the new addition is also a win for them since they are located inside the airport.
"We are practicing so when it does come seven days a week we probably will extend our hours," said Luster.
Right now, the flight is only available four days out of the week.
In May it will fly six days a week and in June it will start flying every day of the week.
“It’s going to increase us as far as volume coming through here. People utilizing the airport, people traveling locally, which is what our goal is,” said Waltjen. “We are also going to be shooting for getting our enplanements up to where we need them and we are looking at 50 thousand or more per year which is great for the size of our airport.”
Before this addition, there were two departures in the morning and only one in the afternoon.
