OLNEY, TX (TNN) - Officials say residents in Olney can safely drink their tap water just two days after the city issued a boil order.
The order was officially lifted Friday morning.
The boil order began on Wednesday after a contractor struck a water main, causing the city to shut off water to fix the problem.
Meanwhile, residents in Petrolia should continue to boil their water before using it to cook or drink.
A boil order was issued in Petrolia, Thursday, after a power outage caused the city water system to lose pressure.
Officials with the Petrolia Fire Department say the boil order will likely remain in effect until early next week.
The CDC recommends bringing water intended for any consumption to a full rolling boil for at least 60 seconds, then allowing the water to cool.
