WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - At Sheppard Air Force base in Wichita Falls Nathaniel Simmons was given the highest award a Scout can receive the Eagle Award.
After scouting for more than 10 years, earning 43 Merit badges and a number other honors, his friends and family celebrated his accomplishments in a formal ceremony. The Hirschi High school senior said this highest honor is not the end of his scout career.
He still has significant plans.
“It’s pretty outstanding," Simmons said. "Today is kind of my day, you see out here all the tables are set up with things that I’ve collected just so I can brag on myself. Part of the code of honor is celebrating achievement in scouting, as well as thanking mentors for your parent’s people like that who have been an influence in your life and influence some of the younger boys to see your achievements and to aspire to be like that,”said Simmons, award recipient.
Simmons requested that the ceremony be held on base. Saying Sheppard has made a big impact on his life.
Now that he has this award he says he will continue all of his duties and motivate the younger scouts.
