The Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament champion, Midwestern State, earned the top seed in the South Central Region and hosts UT Permian Basin at the MSU Tennis Center on Sunday, May 12, at 2 p.m.
The Mustangs make their 17th overall and seven consecutive postseason appearance in 22 years as a NCAA Division II member.
MSU Texas advanced to the national tournament site on eight occasions including five national quarterfinal showings (2006, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018).
Midwestern hosts its sixth NCAA Tournament match in the last seven seasons and is 5-1 all-time on its home courts in the postseason.
Midwestern State claimed the Lone Star Conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Championship completing an impressive run through the postseason tournament with a 4-1 triumph over Tarleton State on Saturday.
The third-straight conference title earned the Mustangs the top seed in the South Central regional, meaning they will host in the round of 32.
MSU Texas will face St. Mary’s (Texas) on Monday, May 13 at 2 p.m. at the MSU Tennis Center.
Midwestern defeated the Rattlers 5-2 on Feb. 28 in Wichita Falls to snap a four-match slide in the series.
STMU (14-7) claimed an automatic qualification by winning the Heartland Conference Postseason Tournament beating Dallas Baptist and St. Edward’s.
