30th Anniversary PIE Recognition Dinner

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) -It was a big night for WFISD Partners in Education.

The 30th Anniversary appreciation dinner was held Tuesday night to honor and thank the more than 300 volunteers who contribute time, money and resources to students and teachers in the WFISD every day.

Made up of individuals, organizations and businesses the PIE Partners are connected to individual campuses across the district.

Numerous well deserved awards were handed out, and 18 organizations that have been with the program since it began in 1989 were recognized. Newschannel 6 was honored to be apart of that group.

Here’s a look at the 2019 outstanding partners and mentors who have pursued excellence in their endeavors with individual campuses and at the district level.

Partner of the Year – Friberg-Cooper United Methodist Church (Scotland Park Elementary)

Program of the Year – Midwestern State University (Zundy Elementary)

Organization of the Year – Sheppard Air Force Base (Kirby Middle School)

Extra Mile Award – Kirby Parent Teacher Organization (Kirby Middle School)

Staff Appreciation Award – West Foundation Parent Teacher Organization (West Foundation Elementary)

Rookie of the Year – Wichita Falls Fit Body Bootcamp (Kirby Middle School)

Female Mentor of the Year – Aurélie Hendrickx (Sheppard Elementary)

Male Mentor of the Year – Lynn Carter (Career Education Center)

Mentor Program of the Year – Road to College (Kirby Middle School)

Shining Star Award – Brendon Miller (West Foundation Elementary

Campus Coordinator of the Year – Kaycie Taylor (Lamar Elementary)
