WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - The Wichita COunty Citizen’s Academy Alumni Association held their annual golf tournament today.
Nearly two dozen teams took to the course to enjoy a great afternoon of golf, a silent auction and delicious food.
Players competed for prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive and straightest drive.
All proceeds from this afternoon will help build a memorial for fallen sheriff deputies and volunteer fire fighters.
“It will be a six foot bronze deputy and a six foot bronze fire man sitting on top of the monument. Below will be the names of course of the ones who have given the ultimate sacrifice and then on each side there will be a bronze fire mans prayer and on the other side there will be a bronze deputies prayer,” Wichita County Sheriff Deputy Melvin Joyner said.
They hope to have the statue completed by August of next year.
