WFPD: Man tampered with United Regional MRI trailer

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - A Colorado man is facing criminal charges in Wichita Falls after police say he tampered with and damaged an MRI trailer parked at United Regional Health Care System.

Police were called to United Regional on December 22, 2018 after hospital security detained a man who was attempting to cut off the power supply to the hospital MRI trailer.

The hospital provided security footage showing the same man successfully shutting off the power supply on December 20 and 21.

Court documents say the incidents resulted in a cost of around $3,200 for the hospital, including damage to the MRI circuit boards and the loss of patients who were scheduled to use the MRI trailer.

Police Charged 38-year-old Weldon Whitfield with one count of Criminal Mischief over $2,500, a state jail felony. Court documents say Whitfield was living in Wichita Falls at the time of the incident but left for Colorado just days later.

Whitfield was booked into the Wichita County Jail Thursday, where he remains as of Friday afternoon on an $8,000 bond.
