Mother’s Day is good for Wichita Falls businesses

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Mother’s Day is the day to spend time with mom, but it’s also a good day for businesses to pull in a little more cash.

Throughout Wichita Falls local businesses are getting a boost from Mothers day sales.

“It has been very good. It hasn’t been hectic. People will start running after 12 and usually they either forgot or they realize this store is open let me get something. Volume-wise it’s about the same as we did last year,” said Sarah McGinty, owner of Edible Arrangements.

From afternoon brunches to gifts like edible arrangements all kinds of locals business look forward to this time year. The National Retail Federation says consumers are expected to spend a total of $25 billion on moms this year.

“It will get me through the summer time. Then school starts back up, and it gets busy again,”said McGinty.

McGinty said this day is the second busiest day of the year for her business, its right after Valentines.

For other businesses that do pretty well throughout the year, they are just glad to be a place people choose to treat their mothers.

“We have certainly seen more people come out today. I think that people are so excited in Wichita falls about eating local and coming downtown and seeing what happens down here. So we really saw that reflected in Mother’s Day. We were full, and all the reservations were sold out. It was really cool to give these wonderful Mothers that work so hard all year round an opportunity to relax and let us make breakfast,”said Amber Schacter, owner of Karat Bar and Bistro.
