WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - The Wichita Falls Police Department reports that a woman was arrested Monday morning after breaking into a man’s apartment and stealing from him.
According to a police report, just after 8:30 a.m. Monday, police were called to the Dollar Saver on Brook Ave. for a disturbance. When they arrived, they found a man yelling at a woman, who was later identified as Casey Longoria, 27.
Police separated the two and began talking to the man. He told officers he lived in an upstairs apartment around the corner, and that no one else lived on his floor.
He told police he had left his apartment to walk his dog and saw a woman walking in the direction of his apartment building. Officers said he told them he didn’t think anything of it, because people he doesn’t recognize often walk down his street.
About 10 minutes later, he returned from his walk and heard a door close on the upstairs floor of his apartment building. Police said he told them he was suspicious because no one was supposed to be up there.
Officers said the man told them he heard a woman scream and then his dog ran up the stairs and jumped on her. The man quickly ran after his dog and pulled the dog off the woman. She quickly ran away but he told police he saw her stuffing items in her purse.
The man told police he went to open his apartment door and noticed it was unlocked. When he went inside, he found a drawer had been opened, and his money had been stolen.
Police said the man told them he ran after the woman and confronted her in front of the Dollar Saver. He began yelling at her and took his money back from her.
Officers walked to the apartment to verify the man’s story. When they spoke with Longoria, officers said they saw several credit cards and other items that looked like they had been hastily stuffed in her purse.
Longoria was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation. She remains in the Wichita County Jail with a bond of $5,000.
