HENRIETTA, Texas (TNN) - DPS has confirmed a body has been found under a bridge near a Harley Davidson motorcycle along Highway 287 east of Henrietta on Thursday afternoon.
DPS state troopers aren’t sure what caused the man to end up off of highway 287, and officials believe the man may have been traveling.
State troopers and Clay County Sheriff’s Deputies spent hours searching the scene, and Sgt. Dan Buesing said they will be inspecting the motorcycle to find out what may have caused the man to go off the road.
DPS and Clay County Sheriff’s Deputies were on the scene searching for items that belonged to the man. Some of the only things there that could help identify him were his motorcycle and a damaged license plate.
According to DPS, the man had been deceased for several days, and he was under brush and far down enough that passing drivers wouldn’t have been able to see him.
DPS troopers are coordinating with law enforcement out of Nevada and Florida to identify the remains and track down the man’s family members.
Buesing said officials were alerted of the body by bridge surveyors who discovered it around 3 p.m.
