Electra Junior Senior High virtual Thursday, Friday after student tests positive for COVID-19

ELECTRA, Texas (TNN) - Electra Junior Senior High School classes will be held virtually on Thursday and Friday after a student tested positive for COVID-19.

The student was last in class last Friday and it was deemed that several other students were in close contact with them over the weekend.

Based on the information gathered, there are currently 13 students from the high school that are quarantining.

The campus will be deep cleaned during the time the students are remote learning.

Both football games scheduled against Munday this week are now canceled.

For students who would like to pick up meals for remote learning, the form is due each morning by 9 a.m.

You can fill out the meal form on the Electra ISD website or call (940) 432-3804.

The meals for remote learning students can be picked up at Electra Elementary between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

There is no change to Electra Elementary School’s schedule.

Dear Electra ISD Parents, Students, and Staff:

I am writing to you to inform you that yesterday, Electra ISD was made aware of a positive student COVID-19 test result at Electra High School. The student was last in class on Friday October 23rd. This morning, Electra ISD officials were made aware that several other high school students were in close contact with the positive case student over the weekend. Based on this information, we have 13 students from the high school that are quarantining based on close contact.

After consulting with the Wichita County Health Department, we have determined that the safest thing to do is for Electra Junior-Senior High to switch to “remote learning” for Thursday and Friday (October 29th and 30th). The Electra Junior-Senior High campus will be deep cleaned and disinfected on these days. Both the JH and varsity football games scheduled vs. Munday this week will be cancelled. Meals for Remote Learning may be picked up each day at Electra Elementary between 10:30 and 11:30 am at the outside door of the Elementary Cafeteria. The weekly meal order form is due each morning by 9:00 am. Please go to and under each of the campus headings is the “Weekly Meal Order Form”. You may also call 940-432-3804 for assistance.

As for Electra Elementary School, we plan on having school as scheduled on both Thursday and Friday. Buses will run on time and on normal schedule. Should circumstances change, then we will continue to monitor the situation and notify you as quickly as possible.

We ask that our parents keep reinforcing good hygiene practices with your students. Washing hands regularly, using hand sanitizer, and wearing a mask are all vital to keep the spread of this virus to a minimum.
