Hometown Pride Tour: Piston Heads Auto Club
BOWIE, Texas (TNN) - In Wednesday’s stop on our Hometown Pride Tour of Bowie, we’re taking a look at the Piston Heads Auto Club.
It’s been a huge support group in the city since it formed and is known for giving back to organizations and non profits..
“We were sitting in a restaurant having coffee and we said hey we need to do something you know and we decided to start a club so we did," said Bill Bradly, Piston Heads Auto Club founder.
The Piston Heads Auto Club was formed 17 years ago and they haven’t looked back since.
“We put on car shows we go on road trips we just do things together, it’s enjoyable," said Bradly.
But the club is more than just a group of die hard car lovers. Through their events, they drive to give back.
“At Christmas time we buy Christmas presents for kids that don’t have a lot and it’s just a good club," said Bradly.
Not only do they give back, everyone has a green light.
“Ours is open to men and women kids, we’re just a family oriented car show we’re very tight knit," said Donna Turk, Piston Heads Auto Club president.
Currently with forty members, the club has seen it’s share of members come and go; like the recent lost of another one of it’s founders, Tom Ballew.
“He never met a person that he couldn’t make friends with he always had a smile on his face it was a great loss to us," said Turk.
Despite their loss, the legacy he built with the club will hopefully never hit the end of the road.
