WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - A police chase in Wichita Falls ended in a fiery crash Thursday on Armory Road.

The Wichita Falls Police Department Gang Task Force was working to locate a suspect named John Uranga who was wanted on a warrant out of Travis County. Officers have been attempting to locate and arrest him since August of 2020.

WF police reports officers found Uranga driving southbound on Jacksboro Highway and attempted to pull him over. Uranga reportedly failed to stop and officers began pursuing him.

Uranga allegedly ran multiple stop signs before briefly losing control of his vehicle at an intersection and crashing through a chain link fence.

WF police say he then turned southbound on Armory Road and was driving southbound in the northbound lane. Vehicles in the northbound lane reportedly had to swerve out of his way.

Uranga then reportedly struck a power pole on 31st Street and Armory Road. The pole fell, causing the truck to catch fire and caused power outages in the area.

Officers were able to arrest him on scene. Uranga is being charged with evading arrest, the warrant out of Travis County for parole violation and two counts of duty on striking structure.
