Wichita Falls police responded to a reported shooting in the 1700 block of Pearl Avenue around 2:30 a.m.

Officers found two victims, a man and a woman, with gunshot wounds on scene. They were both transported to the hospital where the man, identified as Curtis Wayne Day, 29, was pronounced dead.

The victim reportedly told officers a man named Pat had shot her and Day. She also told them there were only four people in the house at the time of the shooting: she and Day were on the couch, another woman was in the front room and Patrick Lyle Osborn was in the same area as all three of them.

The victim allegedly said she looked away from Osborn when she was suddenly shot in the foot. She was reportedly was shot multiple times and beaten with an unknown object. Day reportedly threw his body over her to protect her. The victim claims to have seen Osborn in the room when the assault was taking place.

The other woman, a resident at the house along with Osborn, reportedly told police that no other people were visiting the residence at the time of the shooting. She stated that she owned a handgun and it was kept in a safe in her bedroom. The handgun was reportedly not in the safe when investigators checked it.

Osborn was not at the residence when officers arrived and never showed up during the investigation. The woman reportedly said she didn’t know why he had left and hadn’t returned.

Shell casings that matched the handgun’s caliber were reportedly found in the area where the victims were shot.
