WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - Wichita Falls ISD will begin nominating students, staff, parents and community members to be a part of the naming committee which will then be finalized by Superintendent Michael Kurht.

The committee will go through names put forth by the public and then narrow it down to five names for each new campus that the board will decide on.

Although it’ll be tough seeing names like Rider and Hirschi go, some feel this the start for creating new traditions.

“Again, these are two brand new schools and some of the things that we’re excited about is when the town is split into two instead of three and everything’s being built equal, you have two schools, so what’s going to be exciting in the future is when you have games, the whole town is involved,” said Debby Patterson, WFISD executive director of administration.

School colors and mascots will also be discussed amongst the committee.
