AUSTIN, Texas (TNN) - It’s lights out for ERCOT CEO.

Bill Magness, ERCOT CEO, was fired on Wednesday after February’s worst blackout in U.S. history.

ERCOT reportedly said, “During this transition period, Bill will continue to serve as President and CEO and work with state leaders and regulators on potential reforms to ERCOT,” the organization said in a statement.

Electric Reliability Council of Texas’s board reportedly gave Magness a 60-day termination notice.

The power grid manager has been under much scrutiny since the decision was made to begin rolling blackouts for 4 million Texans in subzero temperatures, leaving millions without power and heat. A decision Magness has defended despite the failure to return power resulting in tragedies and deaths.

Out of 16 ERCOT board members, five have resigned since February.

Texas Senator Drew Springer proposed a bill requiring ERCOT board members Texas residency in light of the February debacle.
