WF Warriors teams up with SAFB for military appreciation weekend
“It’s a way for us to show our appreciation to people that are serving us in this community”
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - After a year that’s been difficult for so many, the Wichita Falls Warriors have the opportunity to do something for the military.
“We think of the men and women on the Air Force Base that are there training. They’re sacrificing their time and their lives sometimes to protect us,” said Jason Rent, president of the Wichita Falls Warriors.
For military appreciation weekend, people can buy a commemorative shirt, which is a fundraiser with the proceeds going to Sheppard Spouses’ Club.
“It’s also a great way to help us continue our mission of meeting those financial needs for children and military spouses through the scholarships,” said Tiffany Kelley, president of Sheppard Spouses’ Club.
Sheppard Spouses’ Club puts together social and charitable outreaches to support all military families.
The money raised from the t-shirts will go to scholarships and grants.
“We award those grants to various other base helping agencies here at Sheppard and then some local Wichita Falls non-profits,” said Kelley.
“They do a lot of work with the families to improve quality of life for airmen and women and we just thought it would be a great cause to get behind,” said Rent.
The deadline to pre-order the t-shirts is midnight but will also be sold at the game.
Tickets are discounted for military service members and their families.
