ABERNATHY, Texas (KCBD) - Texas DPS has now released the name of a cyclist killed in a Friday morning crash south of Abernathy.

46-year-old Alejandro Polanco died on scene from his injuries after a collision with a driver in a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle who told police he did not see his tricycle.

DPS says Polanco was riding a Schwinn Tricycle northbound in the southbound, inside lane of travel on IH 27. The Volkswagen began to pass a truck that was in the outside lane of travel and did not see the Tricycle. Both collided on the roadway.

Law enforcement were called to the crash at 5:43 a.m. The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured.
