Electra powerlifters prepare for state meet
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - For the first time in awhile Electra will have representation at the high school powerlifting state meet in Abilene.
Electra senior Trevor Patterson and sophomore Nate Donaghey are among the Texoma lifters that will be representing their high schools.
Both are in their first year participating in the sport. Donaghey said his biggest goal heading into the meet is to break 800 pounds.
“It’s stressful but you just got to push through,” said Donaghey. “Honestly it would be really great to have Electra show up at state and come home with something. Put our name back out there and hopefully get some more kids here.”
For Patterson, this meet is about leaving it all out there.
“I’ve worked really hard for it and I’m really excited to go,” said Patterson. “Looking forward to get up in my placing because I’m not where I want to be right now. Maybe try to make it to top ten.”
Weigh-in for the state meet begins on Thursday and the meet officially begins Friday.
