OXFORD, MS (RNN) – Despite double-digit nights by their two top scorers, the Ole Miss Rebels fell at home to the No. 18 Kentucky Wildcats 84-70 Tuesday.
The Wildcats (20-6, 10-3 SEC) took control early on, never trailing after the first two minutes. The Rebels (16-10, 7-6 SEC) lost their third game in a row, heading into a matchup against the No. 2 Florida Gators.
It's the second win against the Rebels this season for the Wildcats following an 80-64 victory on Feb. 4.
Kentucky's leading scorer was freshman forward Julius Randle with 25 points. Randle added 13 rebounds for his 14th double-double of the season. Three other Wildcats scored in double digits, including freshman guard Aaron Harrison with 17 points.
Senior guard Jarvis Summers was the leading scorer for the Rebels with 22 points, followed by forward Anthony Perez, who scored 21 points off the bench. Guard Marshall Henderson scored 18 points, but made only five of his 14 3-pointers and went five of 17 from the floor.
Both teams shot well from the foul line, with Kentucky making 90 percent of their foul shots, and Ole Miss completing 86.7 percent of theirs. The Wildcats were better from the floor, going 25 of 48 compared to the Rebel's 24 of 62.
Ole Miss will host the Gators on Saturday at noon. Kentucky will travel back to Lexington and host the LSU Tigers for a 4 p.m. ET tipoff Saturday.
