WICHITA FALLS, TX - Yesterday was the last day for you to apply for insurance to be considered for open enrollment. Thankfully, external stipulations will allow you to continue the enrollment process if you made a good faith effort to enroll before the deadline. This is called the special enrollment period.

Also, people with life qualifying events will also be eligible to apply after yesterdays deadline.

Stephanie Knisley, a Certified Application Counselor at the Community Healthcare Center said that many things can be considered a life qualifying event.

"A life qualifying event is a marriage change or a coverage change," said Knisley. "Also, if you have a baby or you get dropped from your employer, something like that. If you quit your job or if you start a new job that does not give you coverage, we can help."

Stephanie Knisley says that education is the best support for individuals searching for coverage.

"Whenever people get educated on something, it's powerful," said Knisley. "So the fact that people come in here even if they don't qualify for tax subsidies, they now know what to look for in the future."

If you didn't try for open enrollment and you opted out for this years coverage, Knisley said you can still educate yourselves by visiting the Community Healthcare Website,
