Nine Texoma schools ranked in THSCA preseason polls

SAN ANTONIO, TX (KAUZ) - The Texas High School Coaches Association is holding its annual convention this week in San Antonio. On Monday, they released the 3rd annual THSCA Preseason Coaches' Poll, through Nine Texoma teams were ranked in their respective regional top-10s.

In Region I-5A, the Rider Raiders are tied for #9, along with Canyon. Rider is coming off a 7-5 season a year ago, but the top-ranked team in the region, Denton Ryan, dropped into their new district this year.

In Region I-4A Division I, no Texoma teams are in the top 10 but both Burkburnett and Hirschi received a vote or two. In Division II, Graham is picked 4th, which would require a bounce-back after a rough 2015 season. Iowa Park is ranked 5th after going 7-5 last year.

In Region II-3A Division II, the Henrietta Bearcats are expected to have another strong season, ranked 2nd behind Hooks after going 12-2 a year ago. Holliday also received a few votes. In Region I-3A Division I, Bowie was not ranked but also received votes.

In Region II-2A Division I, Seymour is ranked 5th after a 10-3 season in 2015, Windthorst is in 8th after going 6-6 a year ago. Finally, in Region II-2A Division II, Munday is picked to have a comeback season, taking 5th place after a disappointing 4-6 last year. Electra and Quanah are tied for 6th after each won 8 games in 2015.

Training Camp begins on August 1st for all schools except Rider, who starts on August 8th. The regular season starts with the Hirschi Huskies hosting Dallas Life on Thursday, August 25th.
