WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - The new Mass Communication building at Midwestern State University opened to the public on Thursday morning.
The rain did not stop the crowd of guests from showing up to the grand opening ceremony. The festivities included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication.
A portrait presentation to honor the founder of the department, Carla Bolin, was also held.
The $7 million facility has been a dream of Bolin's for quite some time.
After three years of planning and construction, the attendees were excited to see it come to fruition.
"First of all, when I first saw this building I wept, because it was a dream I thought I would not live to see. We started off in a shoe closet basically and I think most students now know they can come here and have the best education in mass communications in the state," Bolin said.
The packed house included a lot of mass communication alumni including Evening Anchor Ashley Fitzwater and Digital Reporter Samantha Forester.
After a reception and a few photos, students gave tours to show off the top of the line facility.
