A Wichita Falls Pastor is at the Texas capital for Monday's hearing on the possibility of a 'Red Flag' gun law.
The proposal is a part of the Governor Greg Abbott's school and firearm safety plan.
It would allow law enforcement, a family member, school employees or a district attorney to get a court order to remove firearms from someone a judge declares potentially dangerous.
This would be temporary depending on what the court decides.
Pastor Mel Martinez with Wichita Falls Metropolitan Community Church, said she believes this could save lives but adds better gun safety education and less stigma for those who suffer from mental illness would be more successful.
