Tuesday night was election night in Oklahoma.

After residents sounded off across the state in a number of primary and run-off elections,
in Lawton, voters hit the polls to decide the city's next mayor.
Six candidates campaigned for the mayor's seat as incumbent Fred Fitch did not run for re-election.

The latest numbers show businessman Stan Booker with a majority of the votes.
Councilman Dwight Tanner in second place.

With neither candidate getting the 50% plus one vote needed to win the office outright,  Booker and Tanner will move on to the general election on November 6th.

Among today's races was also the run-off election for the Republican nominee for Governor.

Businessman Kevin Stitt raced away from former Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett on Tuesday to take the Republican nomination for governor.

He will face Democrat Drew Edmonson in the November general election.
