Perrin-Whitt CISD is hoping the community passes a $25.45 million bond
PERRIN, Texas (KAUZ)- The Perrin-Whitt Consolidated Independent School District has asked its community members to vote “yes” on a $25.4 million school bond. The bond is based on the average home value of $200,000 in the district.
The proposed bond would cost taxpayers an additional $21 a month. The bond package includes a new career and technology center, renovations, maintenance and repairs throughout the district.
The bond also aims to address safety and security upgrades, including a security vestibule at the high school.
Perrin-Whitt CISD Superintendent Loren Sell said the district needs the safety upgrades to keep students as secure as possible.
“Our current secondary office is located in the center of the building. The front access door is a pretty good walking distance to that office for a person to check in. Our doors are secured by buzzers, but as soon as you walk in, you have the cafeteria and the library. That is a huge congregation point for students, and we need to create a situation where that spot there is most secure,” Sell said.
Early voting began on April 22 and will run until April 29, but for those in Perrin, their early voting is only between April 24 and April 25. Election Day is May 3 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
