Gas prices hold steady as Texans get ready for hot August

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The average price per gallon for gasoline in Wichita Falls is $2.72 according to AAA Texas, and prices have held steady over the past week.
Prices statewide are up just one cent to $2.79 since this time last week, and are down 32 cents per gallon since this time last year. Nationally, prices are about 40 cents higher at a nationwide average of $3.16 per gallon.
Gas prices typically experience a bit more volatility this time of year, but oil prices are staying low, helping keep the price at the pump more affordable.
“When it comes to fuel prices, Texans are enjoying one of the most stable summer driving seasons in recent years,” AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster said. “With crude oil prices remaining low, drivers should be able to hit the road without worrying about major swings at the pump.”
