WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Car enthusiasts, get your motors running, for an exciting day of gears and gasoline is coming to Wichita Raceway Park in Iowa Park on Nov. 1.

The day will start off with a free car show open to the public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and News Channel 6’s very own Chris Koetter will even be there judging.

Along with the car show, the raceway will host vendors, fresh food, fun for kids and, of course, plenty of drag races.

It costs $30 to enter the car show, and a portion of those proceeds will be donated to Racers for Christ.

Raceway Manager Britany Schmidt explained why giving back to Racers for Christ is such an important goal for the raceway.

“Recently, I was involved in an accident at Texas Motor Speedway this summer, and the Racers for Christ were there, and they were very involved with helping me, you know, everything from praying with me. They sat in the emergency room with my husband. They helped take him to the emergency room while I was in the ambulance. So they really mean a lot to us personally,” Schmidt said.

Schmidt also said watching the races is always a thrill.

“It’s a lot of noise, it’s a lot of burnouts, a lot of smoke, and it’s a lot of fun. There’ll be cars out here that are popping wheelies and bringing the front tires off the ground. So it’s a good time and it’s exciting,” Schmidt said.

The car show and vendor expo will be open to the public for free from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

After that, when the drag racing starts, anyone who wants to stay and watch will have to sign a safety waiver and pay $15 for a race pass.
