WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The City of Wichita Falls is hosting a public forum on Wednesday, May 27, to gather citizen input on a proposed substantial amendment to the Program Year 2021 Annual Action Plan.

The meeting will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Travel Center Conference Room, located at 306 Scott Avenue.

The City of Wichita Falls shared that the amendment would reallocate $94,490 in unreserved HOME-American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP) funds to support local homelessness and housing stability efforts.

According to the City, the proposed reallocation would provide funding to The Salvation Army of Wichita Falls to expand the women and children’s wing of its shelter facility, with improvements that include:

  • renovated living space
  • additional ADA-accessible bathrooms
  • showers
  • laundry facilities
  • increasing shelter capacity from 12 to 20 beds
  • expanding the number of individuals served annually

In addition to the amendment, the City of Wichita Falls is also hearing public comment on the proposed Program Year 2026 Annual Action Plan during the May 27, 2026, public forum.

According to the City, the plan outlines proposed housing, public service, neighborhood improvement, and community development projects.
