WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The Wichita Falls Fire Department and community members gathered on Thursday, June 4, to officially dedicate and open Kelly Crush Memorial Park.
Crush battled fires for Wichita Falls beginning in 1988, retiring in 2009 to fight another battle: ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
After passing from the illness in 2012, the community worked to maintain his legacy, culminating in the park opening.
Numerous city leaders, organizations, and more were on hand, with the fire department stating that the outpouring of support was a testament to the impact Crush had on so many lives.
