Chamber of Commerce launches program to promote military friendly businesses

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce is launching a new program to shine a light on businesses that support members of the military.

That’s through the Chamber’s “We Support Sheppard” sticker program, formed from a list of military friendly businesses on its website, the stickers are a new way to physically show what businesses are involved in supporting our military families.

Kaycee Denny, the military liaison with the Chamber said businesses need to be Chamber members to be on their list of military friendly businesses, and they need to provide some sort of military discount.

“This program is designed to list our chamber members who offer a military discount, right so that might be to our active duty members, their spouses, our retirees, veterans, and even our NATO partners, our foreign national partners as well,” Denny said.

Of the Chamber’s existing 600 members, around 100 have already joined in, and now you can know who’s part of the program by looking for that sticker.

“As a military member you know I joke that my husband is not usually one to ask for a discount, and a lot of military members don’t, but sometimes it’s just knowing that. ‘I don’t want the discount, it’s not about that,’ but it’s about feeling welcomed. It’s to know that they support us at Sheppard, right. They support what we’re doing and that we’re here,” Denny said.

The Chamber is hoping to grow its list of military friendly businesses, like with the owner of Next Level Golf, who says he feels honored to show their support.
