WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Jeff Jenkins has officially started as Wichita Falls’ new city manager.

Jenkins brings more than 21 years of experience in city management and a deep personal connection to the area. He grew up just north of Wichita Falls in Cashion Community and graduated from Midwestern State University. During his time in college Jenkins also worked as a salesman in the Sikes Center Sears location.

Over the years, Jenkins has been credited with helping rejuvenate several cities. Now that he’s back in town Jenkins said he is ready to give back to what he considers his hometown.

“Really, the town kind of helped raise me, and so now it’s like, how can I push that legacy forward we have a great city council, great city staff, so it’s very humbling to have been that salesman at Sears and now the city manager of Wichita Falls,” Jenkins said.

City leaders said Jenkins is known for his strategic problem solving, innovation, and ability to inspire teams. As he steps into his new role Jenkins said he plans to stay closely connected with the community.

“Meeting with our residents, being out and about and having those conversations you never know, you might have an idea when you go to a restaurant or attend an event. Someone might have an idea that’s very innovative,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins also highlighted his goals of strengthening the local economy and enhancing the city’s already rich culture.

“Getting the economic employers, getting those retail and restaurant opportunities, and improving quality of life as far as parks and recreation, there’s a lot of synergy going on, and I think it’s going to be a great time and a fun experience to keep moving forward and provide opportunities again for our residents,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins is scheduled to attend his first City Council meeting as acting city manager on June 17, where he said he’s looking forward to meeting more members of the community.
