Sheppard AFB “Operation Thanksgiving” postponed to next year

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Sheppard Air Force Base has announced that it will be postponing its community event “Operation Thanksgiving” to next year due to the base’s initial reopening uncertainty amid the government shutdown.
The event traditionally allows community members to sign up and host Airmen for Thanksgiving meals. Instead, Sheppard will be providing Thanksgiving meals to all its Airmen to support and allow families to spend the holidays together.
“Operation Thanksgiving is one of our favorite annual opportunities to connect with our Airmen and our community,” said Colonel Kellie Courtland, 82nd Training Wing deputy commander. “We sincerely appreciate the support, time and care invested in past Operation Thanksgiving events with our local community, which have made a lasting impact on our Airmen.”
The base would like to emphasize that they remain committed to supporting their Airmen and the community with the highest level of care and professionalism, and look forward to continuing the cherished annual tradition next year.
