AAA Texas reports record-high travel over the Thanksgiving holiday

TEXAS (KAUZ) - According to AAA Texas’ travel forecast, a record 5.8 million Texans are expected to hit the road this Thanksgiving holiday season.
AAA Texas said that this is the seventh year in a row that has seen a rise in holiday travel, and that this year marks a 1.1% increase compared to last year.
Nationally, AAA expects 81.8 million Americans to travel for Thanksgiving, with 1.6 million more travelers than last year.
AAA Texas shared the following stats:
- Nearly 90% of travelers will travel by car: AAA projects 73 million Americans, including 5.3 million Texans, will travel by car.
- 6 million Americans, including 328,000 Texans, are expected to travel by air, a 2% increase over 2024.
- Texans are flocking to Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and the Hill Country
- Top domestic destinations include: Florida, California, New York, Hawaii, Nevada, and Georgia
- Top international destinations include: France, the Netherlands, Austria, Mexico, Switzerland, Spain, Hungary, Aruba, and the Dominican Republic.
