WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - As the Department of Justice has announced a remission process to compensate damages resulting from trafficking on the Backpage or CityXGuide websites, those seeking compensation will need to file a petition by March 31, 2026.

To assist with this, Southern Grit Advocacy is reminding individuals about the Backpage Survivor Remission Network, which offers to connect survivors with law firms, help with filing for compensation, and more.

Created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Survivor Remission Network can provide eligible individuals free help with filing for financial compensation for specific damages suffered as a result of trafficking. They can also assist in navigating the submission process and provide potential resources to establish eligibility and estimate future medical or mental health needs.
