WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Thousands of colorful lights are turning the Brown family’s Wichita Falls home into a Candyland-themed light display, lighting up the neighborhood with thousands of lights.

“We bought this house just because it had a huge front yard, and I knew the neighbor did a crazy Christmas display, and he wouldn’t go insane for me wanting to do one, too,” said Brandon Brown.

Brandon and Tiffany Brown have been setting up their homemade Christmas displays for over a decade, always trying to make it bigger and better.

“The ski lift is sort of new,” said Brandon Brown. “Working ski lift is new; it took me two years to get it going. You know, I’m not an engineer and we just... Trial and error. Trial and error, yeah. Just keep trying. And then the light wall in the back is new this year.”

That new light wall alone only makes up 20,000 of the over 500,000 lights across their property. Each year it takes the family around four months of prepping to have everything ready by December 1st, and they say that every time, it’s worth it.

“Looking back, we’ve had multiple proposals here which have turned into children, which have turn into kids, toddlers coming to see the display,” said Tiffany Brown. “So it’s really just getting to provide a place where people can make memories and be able to look back on that.”

What they originally though was their own annual tradition now expands to the whole community to see what’s new in Candyland.

“I mean, maybe not for the whole Wichita Falls community. We definitely wanted something we were going to do every year and add to every year. So for us, sure, you know, it’s a tradition, but I didn’t think it’d get this big,” said Brandon Brown.

Candyland lights up every night at 6 p.m. and is open for all to come by and see until January 6th. The Brown family’s home is located at 6650 Southwest Parkway.
