MLK Jr. celebrations to take place across Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - In celebration of the life and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., several community events will take place during the months of January and February.

Rhythm of Texoma Talent Showcase - Jan. 17th

The Rhythm of Texoma Talent Showcase is asking all artists -- singers, dancers, musicians, poets, and spoken word artists -- to join in celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who valued equality, unity, and inclusion.

The Backdoor Theatre, located at 501 Indiana Ave., will be hosting the talent show. Light refreshments and food will be served at 1:00 p.m., an hour before the show takes place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Grand Marshal for February’s Multicultural Parade will also be revealed at the event.

MLK Multi-Cultural Gospel Musical - Feb. 15th

The MLK Multi-Cultural Gospel Musical will be taking place at 3 p.m. on Feb. 15th at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, with the theme “Psalms 137:4-6, How Shall We Sing the Lord’s Song in a Strange Land.”

MLK Multi-Cultural Parade - Feb. 21

The MLK 2026 Multi-Cultural Parade is proposed to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 21 in downtown Wichita Falls, where local high schools, Midwestern State University, and other community groups will be present to celebrate with floats, walkers, marching bands, cheer teams, and much more.
