Gas prices climb ahead of Valentine’s Day weekend

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Gas prices are trending upward across the state as warmer weather and a three-day weekend are leading to an increase in fuel demand.

AAA Texas shared that prices may continue to fluctuate or edge higher in the coming weeks as refineries begin preparations for the seasonal transition to summer-blend gasoline.

The statewide gas prices average is $2.55 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas’ Weekend Gas Watch.

AAA Texas said the average price is ten cents more compared to this day last week and is 19 cents less per gallon compared to this day last year.

The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.94, which is five cents more than it was this day last week.
