Teacher Spotlight Award winner announced for April

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - April’s Teacher Spotlight Award went to Nicole Garcia, band teacher at Rider Middle School, who went above and beyond this month.

She was nominated for her strong content knowledge, work ethic, classroom management, and rapport with students. She says while most teachers prefer working at an elementary or high school, she’s right where she wants to be.

“A lot of people like the little guys or the big guys,” Garcia said. “This middle age is right where I like it because it’s new. So it’s brand new at the beginning. So you’re the one teaching them a foreign language. And then I get to see their light bulb click on, you know, and so that’s great. And then I get to inspire them to go do the fun stuff, which is the traveling in high school. So it’s kind of the perfect medium for me.”

Congratulations again to Mrs. Garcia for being this month’s Teacher Spotlight Award winner!
