WFPD: Wichita Falls woman charged with multiple counts of child abandonment

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - According to records from the Wichita Falls Police Department (WFPD), Denise Meadows has been charged with multiple counts of child abandonment or endangerment.
Court records state that officers arrived at a hotel on 1032 Central Freeway after a call reporting multiple children being left unattended.
Officers discovered an 8-year-old child who was left to care for four younger children, with the youngest 10 months old.
The child told officers that her mother left her to care for the other children, and she did not have any way to contact her mother.
According to her arrest affidavit, Meadows returned to the hotel after officers arrived on the scene. She told officers she had left to sign up for a new room at another hotel and that ‘she wasn’t gone very long’
As all the children in the hotel room were under 14 years of age and were left alone without adult supervision, Meadows was charged with 5 felony counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child.
Meadows was booked into the Wichita County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
